Online Examination System

Abstract

Online Examination System is an on-line test simulator that allows you to take an online exam, test quickly, and without wasting time physically examining the test paper. The major goal of this web-based online assessment system is to completely evaluate students using a fully automated approach that not only saves time but also provides quick and accurate results. Students give papers at their leisure from any location using the internet and their time, with no requirement for supplementary items such as paper, pen, and so on. Students benefit from the online examination system since it allows them to take the test quickly and easily. It also delivers 100 percent accurate and secure results instantly after the test. Students can only enter to take an exam if they have a valid username and password. This test has multiple choice questions with a sufficient number of options. There are no restrictions on the amount of options available, and they can be randomized so that the same set of questions does not appear in front of all students, preventing manipulation. Although more than one option may be correct, the user can only choose one. This establishes a time limit.

A. Background/context

The modern computerized system was created to address the shortcomings of the existing manual approach. We looked into ABC College's manual examination procedure to see if it might be automated. There are numerous advantages to the proposed system. It is quite simple for people from all around the world to register.

The new system is more tailored to the individual. It is designed in such a way that novice users may quickly grasp all of the options available.

It is created in a quick and simple approach. All vital documents are not always locked and can be easily accessed in an emergency. The proposed system has the advantage of maintaining security in the new system.

This system will be able to perform a variety of functions, including keeping track of all student records in a timely way. This technique will save time and paper labour while also making examinations more organised and disciplined. Through the internet, the web-based examination system may be accessible from anywhere. The cost of using an online examination method is less than that of using a traditional system.

The institution can save money and many hours of human labour by completing this online assessment method. Students in this system receive their results immediately after completing an objective test. This system can handle both objective and descriptive questions. Many firms now use an automated method for aptitude testing throughout the hiring process.

This project is built on a PHP & MYSQL Online Examination System With Timer. It is mostly used to conduct examinations for students at the college level. The Online Examination Method is a computerised system that provides immediate results while also saving time. It completely automates the prior manual exam-taking method. Students can study on their own, for example, at home or anywhere else, and it can also be used for self-practice. Students benefit from an online assessment method that allows them to take the test quickly and easily.

It also gives 100% accurate and secure results instantly following the examination. Only students with valid usernames and passwords are allowed to take the exam. This test includes multiple-choice questions with a sufficient number of options. The number of people who can participate is unrestricted. to write the exam from afar, while also providing security, simplicity, and other useful features to the user.

II. THEORETICAL DESCRIPTION

A. Theoretical Description

To understand more about the project first should know background details like why it is necessary to build such kind of software, what are the problems in the traditional system. The conventional system is an offline system that enables the institute to manually administer exams. In a typical examination system, students and institutes must buy paper and other exam-related items. Faculty offer question paper and response sheets to students in the conventional examination method, and after the examination, they collect all answer sheets and evaluate them one by one, taking a long time to publish the results. Every student's report is stored in a register, and the details of their grades are written down on a piece of paper. If you forgot to take your scorecard and wish to take it again.

III. ALGORITHM

The online test created for taking online test has following stages:

1. Login: There is a quality login window because this is more secure than other login forms as in a normal login window there are multiple logins available so that more than one person can access to test with there individual login. But in this project there is only one login id i.e. administrator id and password by which a person enter the site. Hence it is more secure and reliable than previously used on-line test simulators.
2. Test: Test page is the most creative and important page in this project. It consists of 2 modules namely: Subject selection Utilities Subject selection:- From the given choices the candidate can select his field (like C, C++ and JAVA etc) for taking on with the test.
3. Result: Will display the result and show the no. of  questions attempted along with time.

Our project woud beececued in 4 steps . Hence , we will be covering the steps individually .

B. Registration Form

First , a web page or basically a string of web pages. We will be creating the following pages first

A web page to open our portal.

Page to open form registration.

Page that will enter all the credinitials of the user.

Fig 4.1 When the user will login and be done with the registration , then would be the time to start the questionnaire or start with their paper ;

VI.  RESULT

In Fig 5.1 the results would be displayed accurately while also holding account that the exam can’t be repeated or resolved again

VII. FUTURE SCOPE

Online Examination System is widely used as compared to other exams .Online examination system can be used in private institutes as well as educational institution. As it is user friendly web base application it can be used anywhere and anytime. Every software may have some cases of bugs, errors, security related problems or system faults. There are many problems or system faults for example; computer collapse or crashes due to power supply problem will invalidate efforts of number of students. There are large numbers of chances in which software may produce wrong results or may display invalid data. These bugs must be identified and solved for improving quality of software. So in future we can develop more secure software by using advanced technologies..

Conclusion

We are in the midst of a modernizing period, and we must prepare for the changes that will occur in the next years. It may appear surprising and arduous to modify the way tests are performed, but with the appropriate attitude, it is doable. It\'s critical to handle online exams correctly, especially since a test score can determine a significant portion of a person\'s life. As a result, it is critical to ensure that an online test system is secure, relevant, accessible, and fair.
